BTS 3/26/07: Scandals Galore

Listen: Play - Download

Tonight we consider scandals, local and national. We begin with the LA Times. As the paper shrinks and editors go and go – another scandal broke out last week over the guest-editorship of the Current that ended with the resignation of Andres Martinez. Meanwhile the buyout of the Times from the Chicago Trib corporation by locals is going nowhere and the next shrinkage involves merging the Sunday Book review section into the Current section ... there’s more and LAbiz Observed’s Mark Lacter will fill us in.

We then look at the fall-out of the Walter Reed scandal – which turns out to be the tip of the tip of the iceberg as Nation writers Joshua Kors and Ari Berman tell us what happens to Vets and why.

And finally on tonight’s BTS we talk to Garrett Ordower about the Loan Shark Lobby – fueling the sub-prime mortgage scandal.
